The\u00a0METRONOME project<\/strong>\u00a0was featured in the session\u00a0\u201cDigital Twins for Equitable Solar Transition: Mapping Energy Poverty and Unlocking Rooftop Photovoltaics in Athens\u201d<\/em>\u00a0at the\u00a0Energy Poverty Advisory Hub Annual Conference 2026<\/strong>, presented by\u00a0Panagiotis Kosmopoulos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The session explored how\u00a0digital twins, socio-demographic data and city-scale solar analytics<\/strong>\u00a0can help cities better understand the links between rooftop photovoltaic potential, energy poverty and social vulnerability.<\/p>\n

Through METRONOME, the\u00a0Athens Metropolitan Area<\/strong>\u00a0was presented as a living lab, demonstrating how interactive digital tools can map energy poverty, assess rooftop solar potential and identify areas where photovoltaic deployment could generate greater social impact. These approaches can support policymakers, planners and communities in designing more targeted and equitable energy transition strategies.<\/p>\n

The session also highlighted the potential for transferring the Athens experience to other European cities, alongside complementary initiatives such as\u00a0ThinkingEarth<\/strong>\u00a0and activities within the\u00a0NetZeroCities<\/strong>\u00a0framework.<\/p>\n
