The\u00a02026 GEO Symposium and GEO-21 Plenary<\/strong>\u00a0brought together the global Earth Observation community in Geneva to advance the role of\u00a0Earth Intelligence<\/strong>\u00a0in supporting climate resilience, environmental monitoring and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

A highlight of the event was the contribution of\u00a0Evangelos Gerasopoulos<\/strong>\u00a0as\u00a0GEO Programme Board Co-chair<\/strong>, helping guide the first day of the Symposium and discussions on user-driven Earth Intelligence, climate and water security, artificial intelligence, youth engagement and sustainable impact.<\/p>\n

APCG<\/strong>\u00a0also contributed to the DEAL Cluster joint session through\u00a0Eleni Athanasopoulou<\/strong>, representing collaborative work developed through\u00a0CiROCCO<\/strong>, UAWOS, TEMBO Africa and the EULIAA project. The session explored how environmental decision-making can become more resilient in regions where observation data are limited or difficult to obtain.\"\"<\/p>\n

Experiences across atmospheric profiling, hydrological observations, desert environments and other challenging monitoring conditions highlighted a common need for\u00a0reliable, scalable and operational in-situ observation systems<\/strong>. Strengthening the connection between satellite observations and robust ground-based measurements remains essential for improving environmental intelligence and supporting effective decision-making in under-sampled regions.<\/p>\n

The participation of the\u00a0Greek GEO Office and APCG<\/strong>\u00a0reflects the National Observatory of Athens\u2019 continued contribution to the GEO community and to the development of integrated, user-driven approaches for turning Earth Observation into actionable knowledge.<\/p>\n
